Fundraising Ideas
Here are some ways Awana
Clubs can fundraise for Guatemala:
·
Build a map: a great visual and reminder for kids, to build a map of Guatemala. Set your own club goal, and add one piece
of the map until the entire map is built!
·
Sell homemade products: such as jewelry, baking/food items, quilts, etc. All sales are put towards the “Holla for
Guatemala” project.
·
Awana bucks: at the end of the year, churches allow children to donate their
Awana bucks to the project. The
church converts the Awana bucks into real dollars.
·
Memory verse rewards: for each verse memorized, the church will donate
10 cents. A great way to encourage
scripture memorization and raise some money!
·
Garage sale: kids go through their toys and pick out items they don’t use and
sell them at a garage sale. A
group garage sale could be organized at your church. Invite kids in the neighbourhood and have games and a
potluck as well. This is a great
way to raise some money and reach out to families in the neighborhood.
·
Friends, family and neighbours: Visit friends and relatives to tell them about
the “Holla for Guatemala” project and ask for their support. Talking to neighbours is another great
way to get donations and share about the ministry and needs that kids in
Guatemala have.
·
Can/bottle drive: Get the whole church involved!
Set up a drop-off station at clubs and church services for people to
bring in their can and bottle recycling.
Money received for returning the recycling is put towards the project.
·
Ride for Refuge: This year, October 5th is the date set for getting
together a team of riders. Go to the Ride for Refuge site at http://rideforrefuge.org/location/vancouver to
sign up your team and to find a location in your area.
